About the Event
The UBC Research Excellence Cluster in Vision is pleased to partner with the Vancouver Art Gallery to cohost the UBC Connects symposium--Imagining Multisensory Art: Literacy and Inclusion.
This iteration of UBC Connects was co-created by a team including Dr. Ruanne Lai, Research and Knowledge Translation Facilitator for the Vision Cluster; Dr. Stefan Sunandan Honisch, Honorary Research Associate and Sessional Lecturer in the Department of Theatre Studies; Mx. Rahbar, PhD student in Library and Information Science; Dr. Laura Yvonne Bulk, Assistant Professor of Teaching in Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy; and Stephanie Bokenfohr, Public Programs Coordinator at the Vancouver Art Gallery.
Beginning with a conversation among the core team members, this talk will address how collaboration among institutions of learning and art can advance accessibility.
A conversation between writer and scholar Georgina Kleege and nonvisual social practice artist Carmen Papalia will follow, during which they will share their past collaboration and future aspirations. The entire afternoon is grounded in the intention of tactility, enjoyment and care. Refreshments will be provided.
